Heirloom Ring Repurpose with Erin Sackman of Style by the People
We recently partnered with Erin Sackman, creator of the lifestyle blog Style by the People, to reimagine a diamond ring that was given to her mother from her father. Erin loved the sentimentality of this ring, but since it didn’t quite match her style it wasn’t get much wear.
We sent Erin several different ideas to choose from, and she decided to create two pairs of earrings with the diamonds from the old ring.
After collecting some measurements, we created a computer aided design (CAD). The CAD allows us to preview the weight and precise dimensions of the final piece. We also used the CAD to print a wax model, which is the next step in the production process.
The wax models are printed with a 3D printer. These pieces will be used to cast the earring parts in metal. They’re printed and cast in separate pieces so the jeweler can assemble them after casting.
After casting, the pieces of the earrings are individually polished and assembled. After assembly, the diamond are set.
Two pairs of diamond huggie earrings!
